Name tips
What is a suitable domain name?
A suitable domain name is a name that functions for you and those with whom you want to communicate.
Regardless of whether you are an individual, association or company, a suitable name should express your own identity on the Internet and be easy to remember. It should be self-evident – the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about you or your company.
The most obvious alternative may be to register your own or your family’s name as a domain name – thus providing you with the same identity online and offline.
To test the availability of names, you can search .SE’s search service for available domain names.
The name I want was taken. What should I do?
If you do not want to completely change the first name that you had in mind, you can try using a hyphen, as in “summer-pictures” or adding a word like “family”, “my” or “Stockholm” before or after the name. You can also add numbers to the name. If the name you want included the written characters å, ä, ö, é or ü, you can try using and excluding the dots or accents in the domain names.
