.SE Direkt is a part of .SE (The Internet Infrastructure Foundation), and thereby contribute to the development of the development of Internet in Sweden. The foundation’s charter states that .SE shall promote the positive development of the Internet and positive stability in Internet infrastructure. In addition, .SE shall promote research, development, training and education in data and telecommunication, with a specific focus on the Internet. The charter of foundation is realized through .SE’s financing of projects that benefit Internet development in Sweden, using the surplus from domain sales.
.SE´s research and development operations aim to benefit the domain name holder and other users of the Internet in Sweden.

- Development of reliable e-mail.SE is focusing on supporting the development of reliable e-mail. During a three-year period, .SE contributes a total of SEK 6 million to Swedish research projects devoted to identifying new methods for counteracting such problems as malware, spyware and spam. The projects in question are being conducted by the Blekinge Institute of Technology, Chalmers University of Technology and Linköping Universitet.
- Promote the education about the Internet in schoolSchools in Sweden are not very good at using the Internet as an educational tool, but many of them are now taking the first step with Webbstjärnan (Web Star), .SE’s competition for pupils.
- Digital inclusionKnowledge of how to use the Internet and other forms of electronic communication is important for inclusion in society. Therefore .SE .SE has a number of partial projects involving people who do not use or seldom use the Internet in order to gauge their experiences.
- Books about the Internet.SE produces publications in Swedish stuffed with knowledge and explanations about the Internet as well as statistics of Internet usage.
