Cancellation

How do I cancel my domain name?

If you are no longer interested in having your domain name, you can choose one of three ways to cancel it.

Note that any e-mail addresses or websites linked to your domain name will cease to function if you cancel the domain name.

1. Log in to your account in the DomainManager and deregister the name

To log in to your account in the DomainManager you need to have your customer number and password. If you do not have that information to hand you must request a new password. Instructions for doing so are found on the DomainManager start page, and here you will also find more detailed instructions for logging in. In the Domain Manager, there is a help text that describes how to deregister a domain name, and you can also read the instructions on deregistration here.

2. Complete the deregistration form and send it to .SE

Cancellation will be complete within a few days and you will not receive any payment notices, reminders or e-mails. If you cannot find a piece of information that needs to be completed on the form, you can find it by searching for your domain name on .SE’s website http://www.iis.se.

Download the deregistration form here.

3. Do not pay the annual fee for the domain name

Because payment is made in advance for the following year you are not obliged to pay the invoice. If payment is not made, the domain name will be automatically deregistered after a while. .SE will however send out a reminder and an e-mail notifying that the domain name will be deregistered, but as said there is no obligation to pay. This of course also means that no form of debt collection will be involved.

Note that the above applies only if the payment notice refers to one domain name, known as a single invoice. If you have chosen the collective billing service, then the terms and conditions that you approved when you activated the service will apply. Corrections to a collective invoice must take place before the invoice is created. You can perform such corrections for a predetermined period of time in your account. A collective invoice that has been created and sent must be paid in full, otherwise all domains included in the invoice will be deactivated and ultimately deregistered.

Complete terms and conditions for collective billing can be found in your account in the  DomainManager.

Any extra services, such as website/e-mail, that you have with a web hotel/operator should also be cancelled.
