How do I change the registrant of my domain name?

To change the registrant of a domain name and register it with a new legal entity/private individual, you must complete what is known as a transfer.

How a transfer works

To complete a transfer, it is necessary to take the following steps:

1. The recipient registrant creates an account at .SE Direkt via the startpage in the DomainManager. Observe that you do this when you are logged out! 
(If you already have an account on the recipient´s personal id no/organisation reg. no, you should use that account.)

2. When the new account has been created, an e-mail is sent automatically to the specified e-mail address. In the e-mail you will find the new customer number and the new contact ID. The e-mail also contains a link that the recipient registrant uses in order to create a password and log into his/her account in the DomainManager. The recipient registrant  provides the contact-ID to the current registrant. Note that the contact ID is not the same as the customer number.

3. The current registrant logs into his account in the DomainManager. Information is available under the Help section in the DomainManager.

4. Click on “Domains”.

5. Click on the domain name that is to be transferred to the recipient registrant.

6. Click on “Reassign domain name” at the bottom of the overview page for the domain name.

7. Fill in the form and click on “Initiate transfer”. It is the recipient’s contact ID and personal id no/organisation reg. no to be filled in. Also complete and sign the transfer form and send it to .SE Direkt.

8. After the initiation, an e-mail message will be sent to the recipient registrant urging him/her to accept the transfer. The recipient registrant accepts the transfer by logging into his account and approving .SE Direkt’s terms and conditions and .SE’s registration terms and conditions under the tab “Messages”.

Observe that the recipient registrant needs to accept the request within one month from the initiation date!

The former and new registrant will be informed by e-mail when the transfer has been completed.

 

Transfer form

If you do not have a copy of the transfer form, you can download (only available in english) it here. Note, however, that the transfer must be initiated in the DomainManager before we can process the matter.

The form must be completed and signed by the current registrant and then sent to .SE Direkt by fax to +46 (0)8-452 35 02, letter to .SE (The Internet Infrastructure Foundation), Box 7399 SE-103 91 STOCKHOLM or by e-mail to info@sedirekt.se.

Note that it is not sufficient to simply fill in the transfer form; you must also take all the steps stipulated above for how to complete a transfer.

 

Important information

Note that you can only make a transfer at .SE Direkt if you have us as a registrar/reseller.

It is not possible to initiate a transfer for a domain name that has been deactivated because the current registrant has requested deregistration of the domain name.

After a transfer, the domain’s expiry date is the same as before. If you are in a payment-notification period (and the domain has not yet been paid), a new bill will be created and sent to the new registrant. The previously bill will be cancelled. The settlement time for the new bill will then be ten days.
If the domain name risks beeing deactivated because of the registration period has not yet been renewed, the deactivation date will not change even if the new bill gets a new due date.
