Redelegation

In order to use a domain name for a homepage and e-mail addresses, for example, you must list the name servers that are to respond for the domain name.

A redelegation is equivalent to transferring name servers for the domain name.

This is an example of how name servers may appear:

ns1.exempel.se
ns2.exempel.se

.SE Direkt offers no optional services, such as homepages or e-mail addresses. You must contact your chosen web hosting service in order to obtain the name servers that are to respond for your domain name. You must subsequently log into the DomainManager and add the name servers for the domains.

How to transfer/add name servers for your domain name:

A redelegation is conducted by logging into your DomainManager account. More information on how to log in is available here: LINK.

Once you have logged in:
1. Click on the “Domains” tab in the left-hand menu.
2. Click on the domain for which you want to transfer name servers.
3. Click on “Name servers” in the top menu.
4. Click on “Add nameservers” or “Remove name servers.”

Please note that you only need to enter the name of the name servers. (Not an IP address or an Internet address (url)).

Add one new name server at a time and subsequently remove the old name servers. Since you are only allowed a maximum of five name servers, you may have to remove old name servers to add new ones.

If you add a name server that is directly under the domain name, you must also specify an IP address. A new entry field for this purpose will automatically appear in this case, in which you enter the IP address. This type of IP address for a name server is known as a glue record.

When conducting a name-server update, there will be a delay before the update is available on the Internet. It may take between 24 and 48 hours before all of the updates have taken effect.
